The Brief Experiment Of The Roman Republic
The Roman Republic was declared on February 9th, 1849. It was Giuseppe Mazzini’s grand democratic experiment. Triggered by Pope Pius IX fleeing Rome, Mazzini served as the leading Triumvir, implementing progressive social reforms before French and Austrian military interventions crushed the republic in July 1849.
Mazzini tried to create a unified, democratic Italian republic because he believed that freedom from foreign rule and absolute monarchs was a divine moral duty. He wanted to replace fragmented, autocratic states with a nation driven by popular sovereignty, equality, and social cooperation.
The Roman Republic officially abolished the temporal power of Pope Pius IX on February 9, 1849, after he had already fled Rome to Gaeta in late 1848.
French forces later overthrew the revolutionary Roman Republic and entered Rome on July 3, 1849, restoring the temporal authority of Pope Pius IX. However, the Pope himself remained in exile in Gaeta until April 1850, while the city was governed by a cardinal commission in the interim.

In 1832, Pope Gregory XVI negotiated an initial loan of 15 million francs with James Mayer de Rothschild of the Paris branch.
- The Follow-up: A second loan of 21.6 million francs quickly followed later that year to keep the government solvent.
- The loans carried a steep 5% interest rate and were sold at a discount (around 70% to 75% of face value), meaning the Vatican received far less cash than the debt it technically owed.
- The Religious Shift: This deal marked a massive cultural pivot. To justify borrowing from a Jewish banking house, the Vatican subtly altered its strict stance on usury, viewing the interest payments as a necessary cost of sovereign survival.
Usury – is the act of lending money at an illegally high or unethically extreme rate of interest. In modern legal terms, it means charging a rate above the maximum limit allowed by law. Historically, it meant charging any interest at all on a loan.
The Torlonia Partnership
The House of Torlonia, led by Prince Alessandro Torlonia, was the wealthiest native banking family in Rome and the traditional financial administrator for the Vatican. The Rothschilds created a very complex dynamic into this financial collaboration.

The Bible clearly explains that the Gentiles would rule over Israel (Palestine) until Yehoshua’s very public, very visible return!

The English word redemption was translated from the Greek word apolutrósis # 629. In ancient times, it referred to paying the price to release prisoners of war or free a slave. The act of saving someone from evil, buying someone or something back. It comes from a Latin word meaning “to buy back” or “ransom.”
