In Revelation 9:14-16,
four angels are described as being bound in the river Euphrates! These angels are prepared for a specific hour, day, month, and year, to be released to kill a third of mankind. While the Bible doesn’t specifically name these angels, their release is a part of a broader prophetic narrative of divine judgment during the very end of the tribulation period.
Bound For Destruction!
Revelation 9:13-15 Describes the beginning of the second woe. We are told that a voice from the golden altar instructs the sixth angel to release four angels. These angels are bound to the River, Euphrates. They in turn will unleash a vast army of fighters who will slay, “a third part of men.”
The Greek word translated as bound, is “deo” #1210 and it literally describes not only bind, but betrothed, or can even imply marriage. This tell’s us that these angels aren’t just bound, but are connected to this area, particularly the Euphrates River, in a very intimate way.
13) The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the four horns of the golden alter that is before GOD.
Daniel
The “Prince of Persia,” a figure mentioned in the Bible specifically in the Book of Daniel (Chapter 10), is generally understood to represent a powerful spiritual presence in association with Persia.
Daniel 10:13 But the Prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael (the archangel), one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia.
Here the angel Gabriel explained why he was detained 21 days. He was en route to deliver GOD’s message to Daniel. He goes on to explain how he was detained by the Prince of Persia, who is obviously not a man. This appears to be a powerful being. One so powerful, Michael (the archangel) had to intervene assisting Gabriel; as he had been resisted or opposed for twenty-one days.
Daniel 10:14 reveals that the angel (Gabriel) while attempting to deliver a message to Daniel. A message revealing what would become of Daniel’s people in the future, specifically with-in the “latter days,” a time-line which is currently in our midst.
For clarity: Even though Gabriel is not identified in Daniel 10, he is identified as a messenger angel in Daniel chapters 8 and 9.
Euphrates meaning “Great River!”
In Daniel 10:20 The angel ask Daniel, “Do you know why I have come to you?
Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I go, the prince of Greece will come;
Again these princes are not human men. They are powerful spirits who once ruled ancient nations which are currently geographically bound to the great river Euphrates. The angel of GOD told Daniel about a future where Greece would arise to overtake the Persian Empire. He even revealed the emergence of Alexander the Great and the division of his territories after his demise. In Daniel 11:11 the angel warns of how the Seleucid Empire who would be led by Antiochus IV Epiphanes (king of the north) would wreak havoc on the Yehudi people. Later the angel basically fast tracked Daniel (11:36-45) into future warnings about the Roman Empire, the Holy Roman Empire and the office of Pope; (the future spirit of false prophecy), who would exalt and magnify himself above every god, saying unheard-of things against the GOD of gods.
“The Pope and God are the same, so he has all power in Heaven and earth.”
Pope Pius V, quoted in Barclay, Chapter XXVII, p. 218, “Cities Petrus Bertanous”.”…the Pope is as it were God on earth, sole sovereign of the faithful of Christ, chief of kings, having plenitude of power.”
Lucius Ferraris, in “Prompta Bibliotheca Canonica, Juridica, Moralis, Theologica, Ascetica, Polemica, Rubristica, Historica”, Volume V, article on “Papa, Article II”, titled “Concerning the extent of Papal dignity, authority, or dominion and infallibility”, (#1, 5, 13-15, 18, published in Petit-Montrouge (Paris) by J. P. Migne, 1858 edition.)
The Pope is of so great dignity, and so exalted that he is not a mere man, but as it were God. and the vicar of God.”
(Ferraris Ecclesiastical dictionary)
The Bible tells us that he will be successful until the time of wrath is completed, for what has been determined must take place.
This warning is also in Revelation 9: 13-21, (14) We hear a voice commanding, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates. And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind. John witnesses riders with breastplates that were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur, riding horses with heads that resembled lions, and mouths of fire. They kill a third of mankind with three plagues. The plagues were fire, smoke, and sulfur (the Hebrew word “gophrith” often used in the Old Testament as brimstone describes divine judgment). We learn that even after these judgments, the people defiantly continued to worship demons and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood. This confirms that most of the people continued in their worthless religions, praying to gods who have no power over the LIVING GOD, the TRUE GOD!
The Angels Of The River
The Euphrates flows through Turkey, Syria, and Iraq. It originates in Turkey, enters Syria, and then continues into Iraq. Today these current nations who were once ancient kingdoms were all in some way, connected to the Euphrates River.
The Prince of Assyria
Today’s “Syria” is etymologically derived from “Assyria,” The name of an ancient Mesopotamian Empire.
In The Past,
Assyria was a major Mesopotamian civilization initially a city-state which later became a powerful empire. It was located in the northern part of Mesopotamia, roughly corresponding to modern-day Iraq and parts of Iran, Syria, and Turkey. The Assyrian Empire, known for its military prowess and administrative innovations, rose to prominence in the 14th century BCE and reached its peak in the 7th century BCE. Assyria carted away a majority of the 12 tribes of Yisroel in 722 BCE
The Prince of Grecia
Today’s Turkey in ancient times was an expanded area of Greece, another country which bordered the Euphrates River.
So who were these ancient (Greeks) Hellenes of the past?
The name ‘Greek’ was given to the Hellenes by the Romans. They lived in mainland Greece and the Greek islands, in colonies scattered around the Mediterranean Sea. They were also found in Italy, Sicily, Turkey, North Africa, and as far west as France. The Greeks called themselves Hellenes and their land was Hellas. Hellas began in 1200 BCE and endured until the death of Alexander the Great, of Macedon, in 323 BCE. Alexander conquered many nations, creating a massive empire stretching from Greece into India, spreading Greek culture and establishing the Hellenistic period. After the conquest of Alexander the Great, (Daniel 8) Judea came under Hellenistic rule. Later they were seized again by Antiochus IV Epiphanes of Syria, a descendant of Alexander’s general. (also found in the book of Maccabees chapters 1,2)
The Prince of Babylon and the Prince of Persia
Even though the Euphrates River does not flow through Iran, the two are pretty close geographically. The Euphrates River forms part of the border between Iraq (ancient Babylon) and Iran (ancient Persia)
Ancient Babylon,
was a powerful city-state roughly 50 miles south of modern-day Baghdad. Babylon rose to prominence under rulers like, Hammurabi known for his code of laws, and later under the Neo Babylonian Empire, particularly during the reign of Nebuchadnezzar II. Babylon is renowned for its architectural achievements, including the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Nebuchadnezzar II seized the Yehudim, carting them off to Babylon in 597 BCE. The great temple was later destroyed in 586. This information can be found in 2nd Kings, 2nd Chronicles, Jeremiah, Daniel, Ezra, and Lamentations.
Ancient Persia,
encompassed the region of modern-day Iran, and was a powerful empire that dominated Western Asia for over 12 centuries. It was home to three major dynasties: the Achaemenid, Parthian, and Sasanian empires. The Achaemenid Empire, founded by Cyrus The Great, was the first and largest, stretching from the Balkans and Egypt to the Indus Valley.
Ancient Persia and the Jewish (Yehudim) people had a very complex and significant relationship, particularly during the Achaemenid Empire. The Persian king Cyrus the Great, after conquering Babylon, allowed the Yehudi people to return to their homeland of Yerushalayim and rebuild the Temple, a pivotal moment in Hebrew history. This act of liberation continues to be celebrated and is documented in the Book of Ezra. Later, the Book of Esther depicts the Yehudim queen, Esther, and her cousin Mordechai thwarting a plot to exterminate all Yehudim.
Back to what the voice told the sixth angel?
Revelation 9:14 (the voice) Said to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.
The Greek word “luo” translated as “loose” can also mean to dissolve as in (marriage), to divorce. Literally and figuratively to break-up, destroy, or dissolve.
15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay a third part of men.
16 And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them. (two hundred million)
The Greek word, “hippikou” translated as “horsemen” could also be translated as mounted men, Calvary, or basically military soldiers.
There are 7.9 billion people who reside on the earth today, one third of this number would equal to about 2.633 billion people, which is quite alarming.
End Time Prophecies; Babylon, The Great!

The Bible reveals that a new Babylon would emerge as, “Babylon; The Great.”
Did you know: The British Empire literally became the last of the great world empires, not ending until 1997.
In the early 1900’s it became the most powerful Empire in the world. During it’s peak, the British Empire either enslaved, conquered, or colonized a fourth of the entire world’s landmass, as well as its population. The British absorbed more territories and people than any other Kingdom ever. No one has matched it’s dominance. In 1922, Britain became the largest empire the world had ever seen, absorbing at least 30% of Africa. It was also notorious for it’s participation in the slave trade.
Just as Babylon, under Nebuchadnezzar II, carted away millions of Yehudim, so equally did the British Empire. They were responsible for abducting and enslaving millions of Yehudim and Africans. This Began around 1562, and by 1740 the British Empire had become the world’s largest and most successful slave-traders. The British Empire also maintained powerful leadership roles in governments such as India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh until 1947.
Hong Kong remained under British control until 1997.
Just as Babylon under the rule of Nebuchadnezzar II destroyed the great temple, where the Yehudah worshiped GOD. Babylon; the Great, Under the British Empire, was key in the destruction of Yehoshua’s name, and character (the truth, the “way” and life). Destroying his legacy and memory!
Revelation – Babylon; The Great!
Revelation 18:24 “And in her (Babylon) was found the blood of the prophets, and of the saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.”
In her (3) things were found; all involving blood and destruction! The destruction of prophets, the destruction of saints, and the destruction of all upon the earth!
Interestingly The British Empire, due to its immense size, long duration, and control over densely populated territories like India, would make it a lead contender as the most deadly of all the Empires. Arguably the British Empire caused massive loss of life, not only by direct warfare, but significantly through policies that led to widespread famines. If you add in their dominating role in the slave trade, as well as the killing of millions of aboriginals, the sheer scale of British dominion and the duration of its rule, the overall death toll could reach well into the hundreds of millions.
We also know that the British Empire was most responsible for spiritually contaminating a forth of the earth by spreading Christianity on a global scale.
Daniel 7: 23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
After multiple nations throughout Africa, Asia, North America and the Middle East were literally, destroyed, torn down and shattered. The British Empire along with other European nations began to reconstruct the world into their own image and likeness. The Catholic Church and Protestant zealots aided in this dismantling and reconstruction.
Eventually the Middle East began to boil over with hostility. Fighting constantly for years, as we move closer into these final days.
It did not help that on November 29, 1947 the United Nations adopted Resolution 181 (also known as the Partition Resolution) which divided Great Britain’s former Palestinian mandate into Jewish and Arab states (May 1948).
In 1918, after World War I ended, the British Empire took control of Palestine, bringing an end to the 400-year Ottoman Empire.
The Ottoman Empire
The Ottoman Empire was a vast, influential empire that dominated much of Southeastern Europe, the Middle East and North Africa for over centuries, from the late 13th century, until it’s dissolution after World War I. It was a major power, known for its military strength, cultural achievements, and influence on trade.
The Ottoman Empire was also heavily involved in the slave trade (the San Saharan Slave Trade), both as a consumer and a participant in various trade routes. Slavery was a legal and integral part of Ottoman society and fueled its economy for centuries.
The Creation Of Israel
The Balfour Declaration was a public statement issued by the British Government in 1917 during the First World War. It was an announcement of support for the establishment of a “national home for Jewish people (Ashkenazim)” in Palestine.
Today the Middle East is just a hot bed of civil unrest, constant fighting, bombing and terrorist attacks. Some people actually believe things will get better, but this is not what my Bible tells me.
If the Angels bound to the Euphrates river represent the ancient princes of Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Turkey, (Assyria, Babylon, Persia, and ancient Greece) than we should prepare for a global catastrophe.

Middle Eastern Conflicts
Right now we have Israel killing Palestinians indiscriminately. Israelis have recently killed over 57,000 Palestinians and wounded over 135,000 others. It would also appear that Israel is determined to starve Palestinian Children to death as they also began bombing Qatar, while also threatening war with Iran.
In the Israeli–Lebanese conflict, Iran has supported Lebanese-Shia militias (mostly Hezbollah). In the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Iran has backed terrorist groups such as Hamas.
American troops are currently in Syria where there has been an on-going conflict between Syria and Saudi Arabia. A current conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran appears to also be a very complex rivalry, with both vying for regional influence in the area. Thankfully, so far, many of these conflicts are being played out through proxy disagreements rather than direct military confrontations.
In Yemen, Iran supports the Houthi rebels, while Saudi Arabia leads the coalition fighting against them. Those that have participated in the Saudi coalition have included Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Qatar, Sudan, Senegal, and Eritrea. The coalition’s intervention in Yemen began in 2015.
These tensions are not calming down, they have continued to escalate becoming more unstable as the loosening of restraints that previously held these four angelic powerhouses in place.

The End Is Coming soon, Are You Ready?
The Bible warns us of nations rising against nations and kingdoms against kingdoms. Wars, famines and earthquakes plaguing the earth before Yehoshua’s return, delivering the final plague…
Zechariah 14:12-13 (NIV) This is the plague with which the LORD will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.
Hallelujah
Revelation 19:1 After this I heard what seemed to be the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, crying out,
“Hallelujah!
Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, 2 for His judgments are true and just;
for He has judged the great prostitute
who corrupted the earth with her immorality, and has avenged on her the blood of His servants.” 3 Once more they cried out, “Hallelujah! The smoke from her goes up forever and ever.”
