Who are the 144,000?

Revelation 7: 1-4

After these things I saw four angels standing at the four corners (quarters) of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, on the sea, or on any tree.

Anemos #417, (Greek) describes wind or air, physically, But metaphorically, it applies to empty doctrine, or emptiness of doctrine.

Authors note: (anemos) empty doctrines;  (lack of consistency), inconsistent, also denoting a change.

Isaiah 40:8 “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the WORD of our GOD stands forever.”

GOD’s laws and commandments never change.

Variability and emptiness of teaching.

Matthew 15:9 In vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrine the commandments of men.

The Greek word tessares used to describe the number four, also symbolizes universality (meaning all people and things of the world). This definition, symbolizes total inclusion.

Revelation 7: 2 Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living GOD. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea,

The Greek word translated as “harm” is “adikeo,” which actually means to commit a wrong act, or to act wickedly, or behave unjustly towards someone.

7: 3) saying, “do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our GOD on their foreheads.

Revelation 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Isaiah 11:12 He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles of Israel; he will assemble the scattered people of Judah (Yehuda) from the four quarters of the earth.

7:4) And I heard the number of those who were sealed.

One hundred and forty- four thousands of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed.

The Greek, adikos, which means to harm, “dishonestly,  oppressively and iniquitously.” Describing those who break GOD’s laws, (wickedly, and maliciously). But, also specifying those who deal fraudulently with others, using deceit and trickery. Alluding to a spiritual force, who uses people to work in complete opposition to GOD, instead of with, or for HIM. A force who deliberately spreads fraudulent, and deceptive information. Willfully manipulating others into breaking the laws of GOD.

An angel of GOD tells the four who have the power to harm the earth, sea, and trees to wait until the servants of GOD are sealed on their foreheads.

(Forehead – mind)

This could be explaining how these four who held the power, to harm unjustly, were made to hold back this final spiritual destruction, until the 144,000 were sealed, a prophecy which apparently began nearly two thousand years ago, when many of Yehoshua’s prophecies first began.

What does the Bible tell us about the 144,000

Revelation 14:4-5 says, these are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the lamb wherever he goes. These were redeemed from among men, being first fruits to God and to the lamb.

5) And in their mouth was found no deceit (lies), for they are without fault before the throne of God.

The Greek word for lie (pseudo) can also be describe as false religion (or false worship). The Greek word used for defile, (molyno) figuratively means to become spiritually soiled, corrupted, or contaminated, as in to perform acts of paganism (worshiping other gods) and idolatry, adhering to the worshiping of demons (false gods).

We know that Revelation is a spiritual book. Yet unfortunately, many people still believe and embrace every word literally. If we did that, then, ₁₎ the 144,000 (described as virgins) would consist of only males, and ₂₎ the 144,000 would also be following a baby sheep and not the lamb of GOD, which is Yehoshua haMashiach.

Something else very interesting…

the word used for virgin, (Greek) pathenos, didn’t originally refer to males at all, only to females, and in most cases, goddesses. In the past, it was most often used to describe goddesses, who were immune to the temptations of Dionysus, the Greek god of seduction. The word virgin actually derived from a Greek word that meant ‘not attached to a man.’

In Hebrew the word, Betulah, was used to describe, “virgin” this also referred to a girl and not a guy. I could not find a corresponding word for males.

So, it would appear that these virgins are people who were not soiled by the false prophet, sorceresses, or any other idolatrous teachings.

This brings us back to what I said previously, a woman in a biblical or spiritual sense often represents a body of believers, a faith, or a religion. Here, it is apparent that we are talking about a body of true believers.

This probably means, that these select few, the 144,000 are believers who are pure, spiritually, and faithfully following “the Way,” of Yehoshua, they are truly beholden to GOD, THE FATHER, and have not been spiritually defiled by Satan’s lies or false doctrine.

These select few no matter what race, origin, or creed, have found the true path to GOD through Yehoshua. They may have begun their journeys on different continents. They may have been subjected to different religious beliefs and traditions but somehow, each were able to discover the True GOD, and remain faithful to HIM by obtaining the true testimony of Yehoshua haMashiach, who has redeemed them from among men (people).

Yehoshua says in John 17:16-19 They are not of this world. 17) Make them holy (consecrated) in the truth. Your word is truth. 18) Just as You sent Me unto the world, so I have sent them into the world. 19) And for their sakes I make Myself holy, so that they also may be made holy in truth, these people are baptized in the waters of Yehoshua’s truth. Yehoshua said “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:14

Revelations 14:4 These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. The Lamb of GOD is Yehoshua haMashiach, and no matter who or what society chooses to follow, or approve as righteous, the 144,000 will continue to stand firmly with Him, Yehoshua the Messiah.

Having faith in him means to receive life. Yehoshua said in John 7:38 “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. The 144,000 have received Yehoshua’s truth. They have rejected the lies and deceptions of Satan, and his false church. They have rejected his idolatrous behaviors, and they refuse to repeat his blasphemous lies to others.

These were redeemed from among men, being first fruits to GOD and to the Lamb.

Redeem– (save) gain or regain possession of (something) in exchange for payment.

The 144,000 were rescued from among men (people), and through Yehoshua, they have become first fruits, just as Noah and his family were.

First fruit- the first agricultural produce of a season.

Verse five is very important, it tells us that, “in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of GOD.” This is describing the character of GOD’S people. Explaining that the 144,000 will not be deceived by the beast, nor will they deceive others by spreading his destructive lies.

Deceit is the action or practice of concealing or misrepresenting the truth. Whether you do this purposely or unknowingly there is still a cost. It is our responsibility as followers of the Messiah, Yehoshua, to diligently search for truth especially before instructing others. The children of GOD will always be led by HIS SPIRIT and not by their own worldly understanding.

Matthew 23: 27 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.” Woe to you, blind guides!

Again, whether this is done willfully or unknowingly, spreading lies about GOD and Yehoshua transforms you into an enemy of the truth.

Yehoshua said I am the way, the truth, and the Life. He also warned us to take the narrow gate. “For narrow is the gate, and small is the road that leads to life, and only few find it. Finding the truth is never easy, just as Yehoshua warned, “the gate is narrow, and the road is small,” and difficult to be seen, in the midst of so much deception, one has to diligently search for it, in order to find it. Matthew chapter 7 vs 13-14.

Revelation 12: 17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman and went to make war with the remnant of her seed,

Let’s pay close attention to these scriptures. They explain to us that this dragon isn’t just randomly targeting victims. He is after a specific group of individuals. The remnant of the seed of the woman, the 144,000!

The scripture goes on to explain, that this specific group, are the ones who, “keep the commandments of GOD, and have the testimony of Yehoshua haMashiach.” The dragon would happily crush millions in the hope of destroying just one of them.

What is the testimony of Yehoshua the Messiah?

The Truth!

You would think that those targeted by this dragon would include billions, with all the thousands of different religious groups that exist today. Within Christianity alone, there are over 45,000 different denominations!!

Unfortunately, John reveals this tiny number, would emanated from the woman (Yisroel). 144,000 of all the tribes of Yisroel.

Interestingly, if we were to take all the people who exist in the world today, and then divide them by how many actually follow the commandments of GOD, this includes all religions such as Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism it would be a tiny number. If you asked who of all these, hold within their conscience, the true testimony of Yehoshua the Messiah (YEHUWAH’s true son) unfortunately that would surely bring the number down even more. Most people today aren’t even aware of Yehoshua’s true name. Less than one percent of all the people living today, follow the truth as it has been given to us plainly in the Bible.

GOD even gives this tiny number to John in the Book of Revelation, revealing that only 144,000 of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed as servants of GOD.

Remember the 144,000 do not follow any established church, monastery, synagogue, or mosque, because the 144,000 are the Lamb’s true Ecclesia, His called-out or (chosen) ones.

Yehoshua told John in Revelation 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Patience – the ability to wait, or to continue doing something despite difficulties, or to suffer without complaining or becoming annoyed.

Reiterating Revelation 7 verse 2 which states that the four angels were told not to harm the land or the sea, or any tree until the 144,000 were sealed.

Land– representing nations, countries and their inhabitants (citizens.)

Sea– representing the masses of different cultures, and languages.

Trees– representing legacies and/or descendants.

This scripture explains how the 144,000, who were sealed, through a promised made to Abraham, would inherit a behavior of righteousness, supporting a firm trust, which includes the testimony of Yehoshua haMashiach. Honoring the covenant made to GOD, by following HIS commandments. And assuming this behavior at a time when the rest of the world would be moving in the opposite direction from GOD, HIS laws, and the truth.

Revelation 14:12 of the Common Jewish Bible. Here is the perseverance of the kedoshim (holy ones) – those who keep the commandments of GOD and the faith of Yehoshua.

This scripture continues to make it crystal clear that this exceptional group will keep the commandments of GOD, patiently holding on to the truth of Yehoshua, until the end.

Revelation 12:15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman (Yisroel), that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood (deluge of deceit). The Greek word, “stoma” used here to describe mouth, also describes eloquent speech, or an eloquent speaker.

Since Yehoshua’s ascension there has been an overflowing, or a deluge of poison water (lies) spewed by the Serpent working against the truth of GOD in order to overwhelm, corrupt and confuse the world.

Daniel 7:21- 22 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; 22) Until the Ancient of days came (GOD), and judgment was given to the saints of the most High, and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.

GOD will restore all things. The Truth will be restored.

Romans 14: 11-12 Because it is written, As I live, says the LORD, every knee will bow to me, and every tongue will give praise to GOD. 12)  So that, each of us will give an account of ourselves to GOD.

Matthew 24:37-39 For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 38) For in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, 39) and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

Did you know: that over half a billion people are Buddhist, 1.1 billion people identify as Hindus, over 1.9 billion people identify as Muslim, and a whopping 2.6 billion people throughout the world identify as Christian. Combined these religions total at least 6.1 billion of the 7.9 billion in population on earth today.

Yet, despite all these seemingly peaceful, benevolent belief systems, only through Yehoshua’s return will peace be restored to the earth. Religions when combined equal more than three fourth of the earth’s population and yet, wickedness is the most popularly chosen force ruling worldwide. Given a choice between good and evil men, out of greed and selfishness, will always choose evil. For this reason Yehoshua will return purging the earth of this corruption. To repair the unmitigated damage done through man’s sin, violence, ignorance, and blasphemy.

Interestingly two floods are mentioned in scripture. The first one pertains to Noah’s ark where it rained forty days and forty nights to cleanse the earth of the evil Nephilim, separating them from their corrupt fleshly bodies, successfully halting many of their most egregious crimes against earth.

The second pertains to the spewing of lies directly from the mouth of the dragon. This deluge of poison, that was used to overwhelm the world with deception and lies. Ironically this flood will become the very device used to condemn all those aligned with demons and wickedness.

Luke 17:28-30 “It was the same as in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, 29) But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all”. 30) “It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed.”

History seems to keep repeating itself. According to scripture, once all the 144,000 are sealed, destruction is set to begin, just as with Noah and with Lot.

Take note, Luke 17, verse 30, specifically states, “It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed.”

The Greek word used here “apokalupto,” means to uncover, reveal, or bring to light.

Hmmm, why would GOD need to reveal HIS Son, if over two billion people (Christianity) are known to believe and follow him already?

Could it be that the true Son of GOD, Yehoshua; and Jesus Christ, are not, nor have they ever been the same?

Again, to reveal something, actually means to uncover it, or, to bring it to light. This would mean that following Jesus (Christ), is not the same, as following “the Way,” of Yehoshua haMashiach.

In both of the previous Biblical stories, involving Noah and Lot, only one family survived the total destruction of GOD’s holy judgments, sent down to punish all who were lost in iniquity. It seems to be the same with the 144,000, only one family is rescued from the destruction. Did you also notice that right before the judgment, in both scenario’s, the people appeared to be completely unconcerned by the shockingly brutal and unrestrained behaviors happening around them?

Let’s read a small portion of  Lot’s amazing story in Genesis 19:4 Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom–both young and old– surrounded the house. 5) And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, where are the men which came into thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know (assault) them.

The word “know” used here, is placed as a euphemism for sex (intercourse): (example) Adam knew his wife Eve, and she became pregnant (Genesis 4:1)

The Hebrew word translated in English as “all,” (kol) is confirmation that literally; all, every man, young and old surrounded Lot’s house, harboring the wicked and brazen intent to attack, the angels, who they believed to be two young men. Because Lot had already welcomed the men under his roof earlier that evening, he begged the crowd not to do such a despicable thing. This scripture reveals how the men of Sodom endeavored; to assault Lot’s angelic guess, sexually, brutally, and violently.

The story went on to explain, how, after Lot went out to confront the men, politely asking them to knock it off; and stop the offensive behavior, (even offering his own daughters). The men responded by threatening Lot, promising him that his fate, would be far worse than their twisted perverted intentions towards the angels.

Clearly the men of Sodom, had fallen into such a depraved sense of morality, they somehow viewed this uncivilized, violent, and disgusting behavior as normal. For it was written that, “The people of the city were planting and building, selling and buying, marrying and giving in marriage;” they were behaving as though these blatant and disturbing acts of sexual-violence; apparently happening around them everyday was totally normal.

Could this be what is happening today? Have you witness violence and other despicable behaviors waved away by others as normal?

Ezekiel 9: 4-6 and said to him, “Go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it.” 5) Then I heard the LORD say to the other men, “Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked. Show no mercy; have no pity! 6) Kill them all—old and young, girls and women and little children. But do not touch anyone with the mark. Begin right here at the Temple.” So they began by killing the seventy leaders.

Genesis 6: 4-7 During the time of Noah, Nephilim were on the earth in those days – and also afterward- when the sons of GOD went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.

The Hebrew word translated as, “renown” is “Shem,” which in English, would be, “name.” Since GOD was referred to by the early Hebrews as, “Hashem” the NAME, this leads me to believe that not only does this description elude to fame or notoriety, but it also appears to reference an idolization aspect to its description. Men, raising up these, ill-gotten spawn into a position which rivaled GOD, at least in their minds.

5) The LORD saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil, all the time. 6) The LORD regretted that HE had made human beings on the earth, and HIS heart was deeply troubled. 7) So the LORD said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created- and with them the animals, the birds, and the creatures that move along the ground- for I regret that I have made them.” 8) But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.

Remember it wasn’t until Noah and his family were sealed safely in the ark, and Lot and his family were at a safe distance from the city of Sodom that GOD’s judgment began.

In the same way, the judgments will begin after the 144,000 are sealed. With Noah, GOD revealed that man had a remainder of one hundred and twenty years before the destruction would begin.

With Lot GOD allowed HIS angels a full night to evaluate and witness the behaviors governing the men of the doomed cities. HIS decision of total annihilation had not yet been confirmed, so HE afforded HIS angels a portion of time to walk the streets, witnessing and reporting their findings. Pretty much all this begin to change, when before the night had fully fallen, all the men of the city decided to surround Lot’s home, with the depraved intentions of brutally, and violently defiling GOD’s messengers.

GOD’s Faithful Servants

Revelation 6:11, Then each was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters, were killed just as they had been.

apokteino– properly to kill, to abolish, extinguish. To kill the body. Unfortunately many people of GOD were murdered to suppress the truth.

Revelation 7:9 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands.

Could this be confirmation of people, who will overcome this seven- year tribulation theory created by the evangelist of today?

₁₃₎ Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes- who are they, and where did they come from?

14) And I said to him, “Sir, you know.” So, he said to me, these are the ones who came out of the great tribulation and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the lamb. 15) Therefore, they are before the throne of GOD, and serve Him day and night in His temple: and He that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.

This tells us that this immeasurable number of people in white robes, are those who came out of the great tribulation and according to Revelation 6:11 have already died in Yehoshua,

These scriptures explain how GOD’s people have washed their robes (being redeemed) through the blood of Yehoshua and have died in service to Him.

Calculating the time-line between when the tribulation began, which would have accurately started during Yehoshua’s teaching, and continuing into an unknown point in our future, how many innocent people over these many years would you assess have been brutalized, tortured, and murdered in service to the LAMB?

The truth is, that the calculation of saints and holy people who have died throughout the course of the actual tribulation period, a period lasting almost two thousand years is a vast, and immeasurable number of people.

Currently, even though it is estimated almost eight billion people reside on earth today, according to scripture, only one hundred and forty-four thousand will be redeemed from among men. Leaders, who will implement GOD’s WILL to the people who are still remaining. These will be living people, charged with teaching and restoring GOD’s laws to the remaining inhabitants’ of the earth.

Revelation 14:1 Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on the Mountain of Zion, and with Him 144,000 who had His Name and His FATHER’s Name written on their foreheads.

Let’s speculate that maybe some of these numbers are off due to miscalculations in transliterations. The Greek word translated as one hundred, Hekaton could also mean hundreds with an (s) or hundredfold. The Greek word translated as one thousand, chilias could also mean thousands again with an (s). But even if the number was 144 million, it would still be quite tiny in comparison to the massive number of people who exist on earth today.

John 17:11(TLV) I am no longer in the world; but they are in the world, and I am coming to You. HOLY FATHER, keep them in YOUR NAME that YOU have given ME, so that they may be one, just as WE are. 12) While I was with them, I was keeping them in YOUR NAME that YOU have given ME. I guarded them, and not one of them was lost except the son of destruction, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled.

The Greek word translated as keep in verse 12 is tereo, it means to Spiritually guard or watch over. The word translated as guarded, is the Greek word phulasso meaning to preserve, or to save.

Romans 2:12-13 All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.

₁₃₎ For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in GOD’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.

Yeshua instructs us in many things but above all, we must continue to forgive our enemies and show love to others. Sacrificing our time and resources to those who need our help. This is what separates us from the evil one and those who are contaminated by his narcissistic will.

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

1st Peter 4:8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

Luke 12: 32  “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

John 10: 16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So, there will be one flock, one shepherd.

Romans 8: 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
