A poem

Is it our conviction, or maybe our pride? Or could it be the new found confidence exuded in our stride?
Why are you so mesmerized by the locs in our hair? Or the skin tones we rock, ranging from very dark to fair? Are you offended by the rhythm, the sway in our walk? Do we cause your ears to burn by the Urban dialect we talk?

Maybe your just irritated by the dark eyes and melanated skin? Or maybe it’s the full lips, or the optimism in this grin?
This disturbing fixation is no kin to affection, your eyes are stone cold, when you glare in our direction. The hate you hold against us appears very steep. Going back generations, man the chasm is deep.
Now, our concern is no longer with your detest. Today love is our focus, so fear of you, matters less.
Today you no longer hold the authority to make men feel small. Your power has been broken, no-man fears you at all.

For centuries you enslaved us, always keeping us on notice. Today, we are woke, we can hear GOD just as Moses!
Hosea warned us that without knowledge a people perish, so we have learned to seek Truth, today it’s wisdom that we cherish!
Yeshua said, “I AM the Way, the Truth, and the LIFE!” So now we follow him and have abandoned your Christ!
We have traveled a long way, but there is further to tread, so let’s just continue moving ahead.
