Definition of Awake – to be awake and not asleep!
Naturally the opposite of awake (woke) is asleep or (slept).
Luke 21:36 But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the SON of man.
Awake means to be conscious and aware of your surroundings. When you’re not awake, you’re asleep.
Today, many people frown upon being awake. Often using negative references and connotations in regard to being aware. Many people today often rebuke people for keeping a careful and watchful eye.
Yet, the Bible say’s to “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and The Messiah will shine on you (Ephesians 5:14).
The Bible also tells us “So then let us not sleep as others do, but let us keep awake and sober. Thessalonians 5:6.
Today almost every message is the opposite of GOD’s WORD! Currant admonishment today often began with, “woke this,” or “woke that.” But, remember the opposite of awake is asleep. Have you ever wondered why so many people rally against you being awake? Maybe, the better question is, why would they prefer that you remain asleep?
Here is a short poem, simple and easy to read but, you would probably need to be “woke” to fully appreciate it. The observant few, who have chosen to be fully aware during these turbulent and emotional times, can easily understand the significance.

I was asleep and my world was just fine. Most people ignored me, but I didn’t mind. Disasters lurking in the shadows, causing many quite a fright. But, not once do they interrupt my peaceful night. Corrupt people all around me, often plotting my demise, yet, I continued sleeping, none the wise.
The world around me is in peril, everything turned upside down, yet I continue in my slumber, unable to hear a sound. I sigh, as I continue in this sweet unconscious state, so content, oh no! Now I’m AWAKE!
Matthew 24:42 Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your LORD is coming.
